PETA, Policy, Obama, and Smoking

I was reading over to Michelle's blog and I came across this piece of PETA. The summary of that is: PETA is up in arms about Obama swatting a fly. UM. OK. IMHO, I feel that PETA should be more up in arms about Korea and their missile testing. In the reality of things is that an entire ecosystem is at danger if the missile testing goes awry. I would think that PETA would be more interested in an entire ecosystem in danger then the life of a pesky fly. I firmly believe that PETA needs to pick fights they can win (hence picking on Obama about a fly and swatting it in the public eye and not in the privacy of his home) but on the other hand; I feel that PETA needs to pick fights that will benefit the greater good of the ecosystem. Maybe PETA cannot pick a fight with North Korea and win be successful at the outcome. However, PETA could focus its intentions on making the public aware of the damage of missile testing. Show the people what happens to ecosystems when they are flash fried by a bomb (be it nuclear or daisy or whatever) and what (if any) potential recovery of the said ecosystem can or will take place. I also feel that PETA could direct its energy beyond educating people on their actions and reconstructing devastating areas.

Seeing that Michelle brought up Obama, let us take a paragraph or two and speak about our president. I think there should be more attention drawn to Obama and his smoking habits as he signs the largest anti-smoking bill our nation has ever seen. I would rather see a special interest group up in arms about that. Being a smoker and all; or being that I am trying to quit smoking and Obama is a great role model for those of us that are trying to quit.

Wait let us stall on the role model part. Obama is a role model for an entire nation of African America children. He has given them the American Dream. One day I can be president. Obama has made that a possibility. Still stalled here, he has given hope to a great number of minorities and what they can do with their life. He has given the American people a reason to get up in the morning and be the best they can be and make the best out of what they have to work with.

Back to Barack and smoking; what you don't want to know is that he is falling off of the wagon (on a regular basis). But his falling off of the wagon concerns me. It is suppose to be OK because he doesn't smoke around the girls. It is NOT alright. He is doing it around the nation after he passes this bill to make smoking hell on the rest of us. So, it is suppose to be OK because the president of the United States of America is smoking and telling the rest of us to go broke and face jail time if we smoke or smoke around our kids. But he can do it. He is privileged to be making a triple digit income. He can afford to go broke smoking.

The other hand of this trite item is that the American People cannot afford to have a hypocrite for a president. It makes us look bad on a political stance. If our president will pass a bill and then admit the same day that he still is in violation of that bill himself, then what creditability does it give other countries to sign deals and contracts with our country? If he has enough balls's to violate his own policy then he has enough balls to renege on any deal with any country or government. That is all said in my humble opinion.

good vibrations

I admit it was eerie to drive into school today and have it be an utter ghost town. Creepy. I even text messaged someone from the red light and asked if it was a holiday. She called me back and informed me of the wide spread parties last night due to the election. Oh. I went to one a few years decades ago when I was covering an election for my mother. She couldn't be at both the local democratic convention and republican one at the same time. I went to the republican one. That was when the first Geo Bush got voted in and the place went wild. I stayed and covered the convention until the votes were talled up to the number needed for the win and then I went to the hut of a office that The Daily Mail called an office and wrote my article in the dark. I did this because of the border line riots down the street. My mom called on the back door number and asked me to go and cover the caos and I was like... um.. no. LOL. So, I understood what was meant by partying. Needless to say there were a lot of people absent at the school today. I don't remember Obama saying anything about boosting the tution to those who fail out due to excessive election partying. Congradulations Obama. I will say that due to the election I have received a bunch of tasteless text messages. :( And yes I did laugh at most of them. I do however refuse to pass them on.

The sci-fi world has suffered a great loss today with the death of Michael Crichton. I have always enjoyed his books and his television/movie creations. I send my condolences to his family and friends.

Shithead still has not sent the money for the repair bill. He said he sent it last Tuesday. It would have been here on Friday if he did. I called him on Friday and he swore he sent it. Well that is all good but Harry wants his money back and wtf, why say you did or are going to do something if that is or was never the intention.

The puppies that are staying here all got a bath today. I picked Bear up and he just had a stank on him, so then T came over and a familar odor of ick arose, I didnt bother to smell Ani, I just hauled them in one at a time and gave them baths. I will wait on Chloe until Friday morning. I am going to take the blow drier to her on warm and dry her/ fluff her. I pick Scarlet up from the vet tomorrow. Nobody is looking forward to it. LOL. She is such a screamer! I can't imagine how she is gonna be with her "boo-boo's" ugh.

Good Vibrations is how I feel in general. I have felt great sence the time change. I have woke up feeling like I got some sleep. The night we "Fell back an hour" was rough. I didn't feel good. Lulu got up. Harry took her. I lied back down. Then I got up and Harry went to bed. Lulu fell asleep and I put her to bed then I started to cough. My nose started to run. My eyes started to water. I started to sneeze. Every time I got comefortable I was up. I saw two o'clock the first and second time. then I saw three o'clock and four and five... then I fell asleep until seven thirty and woke up and felt remarkably refreshed. GO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT. But this whole week I have been getting up and I am ready. Except for yesterday, I felt like that but I reached full mental capacity early... oh well.

I hurt

I hurt. It started about noon today. I am just in so much pain, my back, my lower hips, up my back on the left side. UGH.

I wanted to take a minute to tell you about yesterday (Tuesday, October 21, 2008). I had another incident with Lulu and the police. This time, I was at fault 100%. Molly gave Lulu a penny (Why? I have no earthly clue.) I just so happened to catch a glimpse of that in the rear view mirror before the girls went to fighting over the penny. I did ask what was going on and Molly did tell me that she gave Lulu the penny. I asked her why and she retorted with the infamous, “I dunno.” And I grabbed a handful of junk mail off of my (as you have seen in prior pic’s) dashboard and chucked them at her and told her to trade Lulu something for the penny. Well, when I did this I ran over the yellow line a bit.

Well, GSP just so happened to be pulled off the shoulder on the opposite side of traffic when this happened. Wait; let me back up about a half a mile. I did deliberately swerve over the line to miss a Sprite box that was in the driving lane and it could have been full of cans, I didn’t want to take the chance but there was no oncoming traffic and it was a broken line on my side. So, there was a pretty good chance he saw both cases of swerving. And he wasted no time in turning around and getting behind me with the ominous blue lights flashing.

I slowed down and eased off the road (you have to be careful here because if you do this in the wrong spot, you’ll go in the ditch!) and came to a stop where I could be far enough off the shoulder so we and the cop did not get hit. He did the classic approach to the car, touching the left QP and all. He asked me if I knew why he’d pulled me over. I said, “Well, I know it wasn’t for speeding because I just crossed the 4 lane (southern lingo for the divided hwy with two lanes of traffic going in each direction) and I was going up the hill.” He smiled and asked for my license. Um, OK. I also grabbed my tag receipt (registration down here) and my insurance info. He just took the license. He looked at it and then at me. And boy was he ever a hottie! OOOOH.

“I pulled you over for swerving over the yellow line.” He stated.
“Oh, back there coming off the 4 lane? There is a sprite 12 pack in the road” (now mind you I was nervous and it didn’t really dawn on me that he was speaking of … Oh.. Where I did it right next to him!)
Officer- I didn’t see a soda box.
Me- I looked him dead in the eye and then in my rear view mirror. “It is right there, I can see it from here” And he trustingly turned and looked.
Officer – OH, well, no, I meant right there where you compromised the line right next to me.
Me- Yeah, that.
Officer – Well, what happened?
Me – I told him what I did.
Officer – Let the back window down.
I did and he looked in the window and verified the story with the girls. He asked Amanda If she did what I said.
Molly, “Yes sir.”
He asked Lulu if she was fighting with her sister.
Lulu- Yes.{Pause} Tazer?
Officer – No. And then he gives the girls a very short lecture about how they need to be good and not fight when Mommy is driving because mommy’s job is to pay attention to the road.
The kids both looked like they had been forced to swallow hard boiled rotten eggs. Molly was as white as a sheet; Lulu was leaning back in her car seat and staring at him. He asked if they understood.
Manners Molly – Yes sir.
Lulu –Yes. {very weak and quiet voice} tazer?
Me –{snorting down and choking on fits of laughter, eyes watering}
Officer-{suddenly at my window} Do you own a tazer?
Me – No, the girls watch COPS of G4.
Officer – Look me in the eye (the one thing I don’t want to do because I don’t really want to bust out laughing in the mans face, it is not his fault, he had nothing to do with this and I in no way shape or form want to show ANY IOTA of disrespect).
Me- I don’t think I can. (hopping he hears the strain of laughter in my voice) but I comply and look at him. He is as tickled as I am about the kids and he holds this serious GSP face but is eyes are glistening with tears. He hands me back my ID and tells me to please keep it between the lines esp. on hills. I thank him and we head out.

So, that is twice now in six months that Lulu has got a GSP officer. I reckon now they are going to start pulling me over to get a laugh or something.

Other then that I would like to know how much Obama is paying for this 24 hour paid ad on Dish Channel 73.

Lastly, I would like to hit on the topic of Paris Hilton and her BFF show. I succumbed and watched it again tonight. Hell, why not, it is clean entertainment. When it came down to elimination time and she asked the one girl who she would choose… Man, I wanted the young lady to get a back bone and say both of them. Honest to God. Although I think Ms Hilton is going about this BFF thing the wrong way, I do find this to be clean entertainment. This is very light weight stuff for Ms Hilton. I have really enjoyed watching this show. The few times they do show Ms Hilton, she does seem very real and very interesting. I still have problems with what she is looking for in a BFF, but the show is a good idea for her image. It has been kept very professional and I feel like I have a very different opinion about Ms Hilton. But, I am not stupid either. NAH NAH NAH, I know that there is a crew of highly paid people that are editing, air brushing, coaching, etc to keep this show clean and running smoothly. I know this. But on the same hand, Ms Hilton needs some credit for taking part in it and how she is displaying her image. She does get a lot of bad press and there are some very jealous people out there saying a lot of really negative things about her based on half truths and what they see but don’t really know. I see a person that I would be friends with if I met her tomorrow at college and didn’t know her from a hay seed. She has a really fun idea of life and likes to go where she is embraced in a positive manner (like the Japan show). She is coming off as playful (joking about the fried live baby chickens, WAS VERY FUNNY AND ORGINAL) as well as her genuine interest in how the competitors work under pressure (tonight’s show) and I am really getting wrapped up in watching this. If you go to MTV.com and search BFF you will find highlights of the show and a schedule of the show. No it is not a replacement for EUREKA! And I was working on my homework while watching that.

I also took a few minutes tonight to watch some of Game 1 of the big baseball game. That was fun. I haven’t got to watch Baseball in years and the game at inning 4 was still moving very fast.

The problem of showering

First I want to say, I am not complaining about the actual act of showering; as I desperately needed one. When I say desperate, I am not saying I have gone days or weeks without a shower, I just mean I felt the dire need for one. No matter what I did today I sweated and despite the fact that I used deodorant (and refreshed a few times today) I just felt like I smelt like salt and other stinky things. All right, now that we have the clarification out of the way, then why is it that when you are indisposed (i.e.: showering) that you think of the best damn wording for your blogs?

Topics I want to cover (so I can remember later) Obama, road kill not getting picked up, gas prices, telephones, President Bush, back to school, baby brat, and tonsils.

Let us start with tonsillitis and my daughter Molly. I was spoken sternly to by the family doctor today because Molly still has her tonsils. Like that is my fault? He did not understand why the ENT did not take her tonsils when he did the last set of tubes when she was 4 but he did take her adenoids. Again, like that is my fault? I begged, pleaded, cried, begged some more, offered sexual favors; the whole nine yards but the ENT still wouldn't take them because she had never had tonsillitis. And I explained this to the family doctor. I also told him that one week after her "recheck" on the tubes she did have tonsillitis but that was "normal" and "no need to put her under anesthesia again. To which I greatly agree, there is nothing more heartbreaking then the twenty minutes to two hours you spend fretting while your child is undergoing a "standard procedure". So, Molly has tonsillitis. Ironically she was not complaining of a sore throat. She just had a runny nose. I wanted some of the "good stuff" VIA prescription to give her. Well, we got it.

The terrorist in training went with us. I wanted the doctor to check her because I know just know, that she has phenomena however the doctor said, "Mom, it is all in your head, or the baby's anyway." Yea, and bite me, she is coughing so hard at night she wakes up crying. But I guess that is a figment of my imagination also.

School starts back tomorrow for me. La te dah te dah. But I am excited despite myself and I am actually looking forward to five straight hours of hell plus the online class. Maybe there is something wrong in my head! But it sure beats being home and bored because there is no work to be had in this area unless you have a masters, doctorate or at lease a bachelor's degree in something. And who has time for that? Well I do. I am making time for it because there is nothing else to do. I mean, I could just be bored and blog all day and fight with the people in the house all day, but hey; that really gets old and boring.

But that does lead into President Bush. I thought we were in a world of trouble when His daddy got elected in. It was like, "Hey we got a shrub for president." And then the first George Bush did actually end up being like a terminal termite to our great country. I actually used to be patriotic. I loved America. Our flag and everything we stood for. The first President Bush sure did change that outlook on life. So, when Jr. ran for president I actually registered to vote and voted for that billionaire (so broke I had to use spell check on that word) and then got summoned to Jury Duty. Ok, I am no longer registered to vote but I will get back to that topic. Anyway, Jr. has run us into an economic recession. Depression but no one will say the red words if fear it may be true. I have never gone so long without a job. It is a year and a half this June. I have never paid so much for gas. I have never paid so much for groceries. Milk today was $4.55 a gallon. And to make matters worse, the electric company just got the OK from the federal government to raise the price per kilowatt hour. Did Bush Jr. single handedly bring down our government? No, but I think he has an awful lot to do with it, just like his daddy. I think there were a few bills' he could have passed and some of the ones he did pass he could have done it earlier. Like raising minimum wage or actually sending out the economic stimulus checks. Hang on, I've just killed two ants and I have to make sure my bed is not covered, THAT would just be the perfect end to the perfect day! OK, I don't see anymore.

So, anyway, Bush has set the stage for the next president. The next president will have to wipe up the mess that Bush made. I am glad Hillary is out of the running. I don't think our first woman president should be blamed for the big fallout that is coming. I favor McCain. I favor him because he has a strong military background and I don't think he would hesitate to reinstate the draft. Obama? What a joke. Go ahead, elect him in. After all, we haven't had an assassination in a long time. We are over due. Down here in the Deep South that is word in cheek. You bring up Obama and within five minutes assisnation is brought up. I am not against a Negro being elected in. I am against stupidity being elected in. I learned from Obama so far that we have 58 states not including Alaska and Hawaii. Funny frown face. I have also learned that he is no longer Muslim but a Catholic Muslim … um… cough cough… DO WHAT? And just what God do you worship? OH MY. Um… IF YOU SAY SO. And please quite firing your pastors. (In the Catholic religion we have a priest, but you have a pastor… and you're a Catholic Muslim?) And that is all I am going to say about Obama.

I am going to skip telephones because my blog is getting lengthy. I will however cover road kill. I was reading an article on road kill not getting cleaned up in the salt belt regions because more then 80% of the roads and grounds budgets had been spent on the clean up from the bad winters. OK, I understand that. But didn't they also get emergency management aid? Oh, we are supposed to forget that part. But really, if you live in the salt belt, please don't fret this road kill not getting cleaned up thing. They don't practice it down here. At least the road kill will get picked up out of driving lanes in the salt belt area, they don't pick them up in any lane down here. You just play dodge the dead animal and the flock of buzzards. After all, buzzards have rights you know. What did concern me with the article is the fact that the local governments are allowing their townships to "Cop out" of their responsibilities. I guess our roads and ground commissioner will say that due to the rising fuel cost they will not longer be grading our clay road. But no, that won't happen. They love to torture us. They grade the road and turn the soft stuff up out of the ditches the day before it calls for rain.

I am done for today. This is not the post I came up with in my head in the shower. The one I came up with covered the same topics but was witty and well written! I think I have managed mediocre sarcasm and better written then many.
